Learning to Listen: Lenten Morning Prayer 2

"The Lord is full of compassion and mercy."

The pastor bids us to pray with the same words each day. We know these words are coming, yet we know not what to expect. An old prayer is made new as attentive ears feel the emphasis fall on syllables with distinct particularity each time. It is the voice of the pastor which imbues the repeated words with radical meaning. And so we respond afresh each morning,

"Come, let us adore him."
